As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable rural development, Nauladhara Gram Vikas Samiti organized a Fruit Sapling Distribution Drive in Village Khitoli on 28 July 2026. The initiative encouraged local families to plant fruit-bearing trees on their homesteads and available agricultural land, contributing to long-term livelihood security, nutrition, and environmental conservation.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers across different age groups, with women, youth, and senior citizens coming forward to receive and plant saplings. Community members collected healthy fruit saplings and pledged to nurture them, recognizing that every tree planted today is an investment in the village’s future.
The distribution focused on promoting household-level orchards that can provide fresh fruits, improve family nutrition, and create an additional source of income in the coming years. In the hill regions of Uttarakhand, fruit trees also play an important role in protecting soil, enhancing biodiversity, and making productive use of available land.
One of the most encouraging aspects of the programme was the active participation of women. Their involvement reflects the central role women play in managing household resources, agriculture, and environmental stewardship in Himalayan villages. Young villagers also joined the initiative, demonstrating growing awareness about the importance of sustainable farming and ecological conservation.

Rather than treating the activity as a one-day event, Nauladhara views this initiative as the beginning of a long-term community orchard programme. The organisation will continue to engage with beneficiary families, encourage proper care of the saplings, and periodically monitor their growth to maximize survival rates and long-term impact.
